Operation Encompass

Elmley Dray School participates in Operation Encompass, a national initiative that supports children and young people who may have experienced domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between the police and schools. When the police attend a domestic abuse incident involving a child or young person who attends our school, the school may receive information from the police before the start of the next school day. This enables our safeguarding team to provide appropriate support to the child at the earliest opportunity.

At Elmley Dray School, Operation Encompass notifications are received by our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Information received through Operation Encompass is treated sensitively and confidentially and is managed in accordance with our safeguarding and child protection procedures and applicable data protection requirements.

Operation Encompass forms part of our wider safeguarding arrangements. Where appropriate, we will work with the child, their family and relevant agencies to ensure that the child receives the support they need.
